Meanwhile, Rachel is handpicked from thousands of girls to model for Laurel Hallerand’s design company. Animosity is felt when Laurel’s employee, Megan Klaus, arrives. They both ride different elevators to their floors, but Laurel states she can not get through to her. Alan, the security guard, takes them to check on Megan, instead they find her stabbed to death in the elevator. Although it appeared to be a robbery attempt turned deadly, Conan is certain that Lauren is guilty; however, he is unable to prove it as Megan's body was found in the elevator on the 8th floor and Lauren was on the 15th floor. With a few more clues, Conan stuns Richard, revealing that Lauren left artificial footprints in advance to throw authorities off her trail. Next, she called Megan to the 15th floor and murdered her, then placed her corpse in the elevator with her back leaning on the door and then sent it to the 8th floor. As evidence, Lauren had no time disposing the bloody gloves she used in the murder, meaning she still has them. Lauren confesses that she murdered Megan in vengeance for stealing her clothing designs and selling them to her rivals.
