Upon realizing that Kosuke is the younger calligrapher who beat Seishu in the previous contest, Miwa and Hiroshi try to get him to leave. Seishu tells them that he knew who Kosuke was, but has moved on. Kosuke tells Seishu how much he idolizes him and begs him to return to Tokyo, saying that Seishu's art has gone downhill since he came to the island. Seishu has a breakdown, feeling stuck between writing for a prize and writing for himself. When he sees Naru and Hina, he reiterates his decision to stay.
