The boy proves to be more than a burden, calling Busby "Birdbrain," and expressing his desire to be a space scientist when he grows up. He eventually commandeers the Voyager, flying the team to an artificial moon that is being used as a laser testing site. The adults have to rescue him when he ends up directly in the path of the laser.
