He recalls his time growing up as a boy in a geisha house and how he was apprenticed out to Yakumo, but was never really drawn to rakugo. At the monthly futatsume meet, Kikuhiko performs "Shinagawa Shinju", and realises that if he performs for himself, the audience will appreciate the performance as well.
